Our story
Fresh shrimp—and a farm built for something bigger.
PurBlu is a local shrimp business at Morning Glory Valley in Jordan, Minnesota. It began with a practical question: how could the farm build a lasting source of income while creating room for mentoring, meaningful work, and community?

PurBlu
A Minnesota shrimp farm taking shape one harvest at a time.
The idea began as Jean Spencer and Mike explored ways to make Morning Glory Valley financially sustainable. Mike’s research led them to shrimp farming, and that practical possibility grew into PurBlu.
Today, Jean’s experience in business leadership and mentoring works alongside Tim Gregory’s hands-on leadership of the farm. Tim helped design and build the growing facility and now manages daily operations—monitoring the system, tracking the farm’s data, and caring for the shrimp.
The goal is both immediate and long-term: raise excellent shrimp for local customers, build a business that lasts, and help sustain the broader work happening at the farm.

Morning Glory Valley
A place for work, welcome, and personal growth.
Morning Glory Valley was established as a place where young adults could find discipleship, mentoring, encouragement, and opportunities to grow. Jean partnered with Mike and Deb to shape a farm community that brings faith, hospitality, and practical life experience together.
Over time, the way that mission is expressed has evolved. Mentoring continues, former residents and visitors return for meals and connection, and the farm remains a welcoming place where relationships can take root.
PurBlu is the first farm business growing from that vision. By pairing meaningful work with a sustainable local business, the shrimp operation adds a new chapter to Morning Glory Valley’s story.
